3 out of 5 stars Worthy but dull   September 8, 2010
John D. West (Colebrook, NH USA)
There's a huge amount of information in this book, and database construction is not a simple topic. Nevertheless I found myself falling asleep trying to make progress through it. I suggest you employ someone to slap you across the face with a large wet haddock at unpredictable intervals while reading this book. I've given it three stars as if you persevere you will discover what you need to know, so in that sense it does the job, just not very well IMHO.

1 out of 5 stars Worst How to Book Ever Published   August 29, 2010
Access Inside Out may be good someone who is an expert in Access database but it is definitely not for a beginner. The book unfortunately lacks any sense of organization beyond the chapter titles. Much too much extraneous information before the actual exercise and the examples are difficlut to discern because they are hidden in the text. The authors do not appreciate a simple Step 1, Step 2 approach. Also the files on the CD are easily corrupted. They didn't work on my XP operating system. Furthermore they do not give you access to the example database files without installing them first. You should be able to access these files by opening them up from the CD. I would not recommend this book for anyone who really wants to learn how to use Access 2007 nor would I recommend any of the Safari books on any subject. They simply don't know how to organize their subject matter.

5 out of 5 stars Boy, You Can't Beat This Title!!!   August 1, 2010

A CD is included!!! This is the best reference guide to Access 2007 there is. It's organized and full of solutions to problems a new user can encounter. Can be a pricey title, but what do you expect - something for a few dollars?

4 out of 5 stars Very Extensive text still available from Amazon.com   July 20, 2010
Holger Ericsson (Weston, CT United States)
Inside Out series this is the most extensive and exhaustive set of texts on MS Office and related products. My only issue is that the text goes into details to point out some bugs that wre inherent at the time of publication e.g. hypertext field editing. However, it appears that some or all of the issues have since been corrected via fixes and Windows updates but there is no errata for the book in MS Knowledge Base (the designated place for all Microsoft Press errata correcting the book or putting the isssues to bed.)

2 out of 5 stars Access has a great help system that this thick book cannot replace.   June 27, 2010
Mike Mirzamani (Laguna Niguel, CA USA)

I am disappointed in the amount of writings in this book. At almost 3 inches thick, it is more like a novel than a technical book. Granted it begins with elementary information that helps introduce the database concepts. Unfortunately, the book continues explaining things that by the time you finish reading it you are become more confused. The authors could have just list the items instead of going into so much detail.
